Blalker
And by "blalker" I mean blog stalker. I will admit that I am a bit of a blog stalker. It began with innocent blog surfing, just following links on friends pages. I then found several blogs that were entertaining or people that I sort of knew in high school or even elementary and haven't really talked to them for quite some time. I feel a little bit guilty reading these blogs without commenting and identifying myself. I have considered leaving comments but it's hard to know if these people would want to hear from me after not being in touch for so long - or only sort of being friends in the first place (you know those people your friendly with but you never really did things with them outside of school/work, etc.). So should I countinue to read without their knowledge? I suppose it is posted on the internet and they have to be comfortable with complete strangers reading their blogs so why not me? Do you blog stalk? If your stalking this blog, stalk away. Really, be my guest.
Oh, by the way, we find out what we're having tomorrow. Woot!

Sit and Wait
Well Ill just do a quick blog to update on how things are going in dis hood. Seriously, In Chicago I live in not the greatest area, its not crime filled, but it isn't some place I would want to raise my own children. I'm staying in what we pilots ironically call a crashpad. Basically it's an apartment that someone owns, and this case, isn't a pilot and actually not even related to the aviation industry at all, he rents outs beds to people. Not rooms, beds. There are different types of crashpads, some you don't have a assigned bed, you just have a "hot bed". Meaning you show up and choose a bed that's open. Store your sheets somewhere in the house when you leave and bring them out again when you come back. Some crashpads have assigned beds, that's what I'm in. I don't have to worry about packing up my sheets, well actually I just use a sleeping bag, makes it so much easier that way. In this crashpad there is 2 rooms. Each room has 3 bunk beds for a total of 6 beds per room and a total of 12 guys in the apartment. On average there is probably only 3 people per night that stay here so it really isn't as bad as it seems. In fact, there wasn't anyone here at all yesterday for the majority of the day and then no one spent the night but me and I'm all alone still. It doesn't really make any difference to me if there is people here or not. Gives me someone to talk to if there is someone here tho. But the reason that I have to stay in this delightful place is because I'm on "reserve". Meaning that they give me a call out time period that they can call me at any time in between. That time for me usually is 10:00am to 1:00am the next morning. So if any other pilot calls in sick, or they are delayed in another city and cant make their next flight out of Chicago they call reserve pilots to do the flying. Well there is about 15 of us on the plane that I fly, that are on reserve. So I'm like number 7 / 15 so there is a few people that get called before me. It always goes in order of who is the most junior person and who isn't already doing something else and if they are legal to do the flying. But because I fly the CRJ -
It means that I fly less then the people who fly the other jet that we have, the Embraer -
The reason for this is that we only have 25 CRJ's and we have over 200 Embraers. So you figure there is about 5 pilots per airplane that only leaves about 125 First Officers and 125 Captains. Then on the embraer there is probably about 1100 first officers and 1100 captains. Now don't quote me on these numbers, I'm just taking a shot in the dark. But there is alot of people who don't want to fly the CRJ because there isn't as many of them, so the schedule isn't going to be as luxurious as it would be on the other airplane. Personal choice I guess. The CRJ is a much better airplane then the Embraer and if I did need to find another job, there is quite a few more airlines that are using CRJ's instead of Embraer's so It looks good on a resume. But Hopefully in the next few months I will be able to hold a line. Or in otherwords, have a set schedule that I know what days I will be flying for sure. Instead of sitting around and waiting. It could be 4 days flying 3 days off. Better than not doing anything, and I would get paid more and have more days off a month. Sounds like a better deal to me.
Some of you might wonder how I ended up in Chicago to begin with. Since I moved to Dallas to be close to where I would be working. Well, I was based in Dallas for a little while, 7 months or so I think. It was really great living right next to the airport and having the ability to go in if they did call me while I was just hanging out at home doing absolutely nothing! But, the downside of Dallas wasn't the convince, it was the other people there. I despised some of the captains i had the pleasure of flying with. Not all of them mind you, just like 60%. Most of the guys in Dallas are really senior. Been there along time, don't like new guys and hate their job. Well, what ended up happening was there was going to be a shifting around of airplanes and pilots and we could tell them what we would prefer to have done to us, didn't mean that it would happen, but you could do it anyways. Well, there is a code to do this "preference choice" and then there is a code that tells them that you want to "transfer bases" Well the 2 codes are identical expect 1 letter. Well I got confused and used the wrong code and the preference choice wouldn't do anything to you right away, but the base transfer would. So 1 letter ends me here in Chicago. But to be honest with you, I wouldnt go back to Dallas. The people here are a BLAST to work with. I've had so much more fun at my job since being here. I actually am excited to get a phone call to go flying now, instead of, "Oh great, who are they going to make me fly with now? Another fag?" So, here I am....In Chicago. Ha ha. The major downside to Chicago is that Im here, and my beautiful pregnant wife is in Dallas. 5 days here, 3 days in Dallas...She doesnt really like it. We are planning on moving back to Utah after our lease is up in May if we can afford to. If I am commuting, we might as well be closer to family, since of course we will have a baby then.
So I'm just sitting here in Chicago waiting for them to call me. It is actually a possibility that they could call me today. There is only 1 person below me that is open to fly, which could mean I might get called. I get paid either way, so If I don't get called, no bother.

Poor Baby!
Well since Mindy doesn't really like to post that often, I decided that I would take the liberty and do it for her. As most of you probably already know, I spend 5 days a week in Chicago then come home for 3. So I got a text on Saturday saying that our little puppy had broken his toes. I was like, WTF...dogs don't have toes, so therefore he didn't break his toes. I tried calling Mindy like 3 times, of course she can send me a text and not answer her phone 3 seconds later /shrug. Anyways, I guess Mindy was doing laundry in our room and decided to let the dog stay on the bed while she was doing it. Well she had to go into the laundry room to go get more clothes to fold and if you have ever met our little puppy, he has to follow us wherever we are. Doesn't matter, we cant take a shower without him being in the bathroom with us. He's just so loving. Anyways, well she forgot about his ambitious spirit and went into the laundry room. Well Buster would have none of that, he decided he would follow....by jumping off the bed. Well we have a queen size bed that has a pillow top and a box spring and it sits pretty high off the ground. Well when he landed, he must have landed wrong or something, because well, he really did break his toes. The front left foot all of his toes were broken. I wasn't there to see what happened, but I guess when he fell off the bed he made a huge huge fuss and noise. So loud actually that a neighbor who was outside came up running to see what had happened. She thought that we might have been out of town or at work and Buster had gotten hurt without us knowing about it. Well when she came knocking at the door, Mindy opened up to let her in and show her what had happened. Our neighbor, Sharice, is so nice, she actually drove Mindy to the vet right then and made sure Buster got taken care of. He got taken care of alright. Poor dog =(. He has a little green cast that he wears and has to have one of those cones on his head to ensure that he doesn't bite at his cast. I have taken a few pictures to show you how sad he looks. But he is still super cute, but I feel so bad for him.
The sad part is that he will have to wear this gear for 6 weeks. That is so long for this little guy. He isn't really allowed to do anything. He cant get his cast wet so he wears a bootie over his cast, which he was wearing in those pictures. We have to keep him quiet so he doesn't get too excited and play too much on his feet. Its kind of hard for him to do because he is still so young. Actually, he is 4 months old today, so another month and a half for him like this haha. Its sad, but funny at the same time. He knows when I'm laughing at him and it just makes him so sad. Anyways, that's all for now.

If you haven't heard yet...
I'm pregnant.
I'm about 11 weeks along and due March 25th. I mostly haven't felt sick but I do on odd days. I've thrown up three times and felt nauseated multiple other times. Bryant and I are excited. I'm a bit terrified though. Everything that is involved in having a kid is pretty scarey but I'm sure it will be fine. Its just the unknown. People have kids everyday and it turns out fine. We want a girl which means we'll have a boy especially if it follows Bryant's family. He is one of four boys. I'm sure we'll be happy with either though. So there it is... more than you wanted to know.

Yep,
we got a dog. Can you believe it? He's super cute.
He's 7 weeks old. When he's full grown he'll be about a foot tall and his black fur will fade to a lightesh red/brown color (like his paws). He's a Welsh Terrier. We've named him Mr. Darcy but we are still kind of debating between that and Buster.
Don't you just want to cuddle him? Me too. I feel so bad when we have to put him in his crate and he just whimpers.

Woot!!
Well, I got a job. It's not a teaching position but it will do for now. It's a temp to hire position so I'm officially hired by a staffing company (they pay me, etc.) but I'll be working for Honda Financial Services in their credit department. Basically I'll be doing data entry. I review contracts and fund them for dealers. I'm pretty excited about it because I'll be getting paid more than I did when I was supervising at RC Willey and I get a raise after 30 days and then after 60 days. If I choose to stay and Honda hires me on then I also get car benefits. I'm not sure what that entails but it sounds pretty sweet. Anyways, I'm excited and will be starting on Monday. It's good to be employed.
On a sidenote, you should check out this photography exhibit. They say none of it is digitally composed (meaning what's in the photograph is sitting in front of the photographer in reality - he's not splicing images together). It's beautiful.
I also just finished reading a book call The Book Thief. It is a beautiful story. It's narrated by death and about the Holocaust. All I can say is that I loved it and you should read it.

2 Years
I can't believe that Bryant and I have been married now for two years (our anniversary was yesterday). I just wanted to say that I love you Bryant! Thanks for being the best! I always have so much fun with you and I am enjoying our time home together!

I was planning on including other photo's in this slide show but it turns out that they're on Bryant's computer and not mine so all you get are a few of my favorites from the wedding.

Hot
According to weather.com the high yesterday was 99 degrees. Blasted hot, not to mention that I'm used to dry heat so with the humidity I feel like I'm always moist and sweaty. Good thing we have a pool. I don't think I'm going to last much longer without turning on the AC (we're trying to last as long as possible to keep energy cost down). Hopefully I'll get a job soon so I can escape to the nice air conditioned building.

I'm it!
I was tagged by Krachel so here it goes:
The rules of the game: Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 3 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
1. What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was 14. I was in eighth grade and had the biggest crush on a guy. During the summer he called and asked me out, said we could go to Seven Peaks together and I... chickened out. I told him I was too young to date. I felt really bad for turning him down and I really did want to date him. However, I'm a girl and felt too self-conscious to wear a swim suit in front of him. Needless to say, once the summer was over and I saw him I was too embarassed and scared to talk to him so I didn't. Ever.
2. What was on my to-do list for today?
Pack, Catch a flight home, do laundry, and clean up.
3. What would I do if I suddenly became a billionaire?
Let's see, I'm currently unemployed so the money would definitely help. I'd probably payoff Bryant's student loans, buy a house, invest some, give some to charities, go shopping, put lots in savings and help my family out with whatever they might need.
4. 3 Bad habits
Not making the bed on a regular basis. Being too sensitive to things Bryant says (that he intends to be perfectly harmless). Forgetting to take my camera with me.
5. Places I have lived
This is pretty pathetic but I have lived in Provo, UT and now Grapevine, TX.
6. Places I have worked...
JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts, Dixon Middle School, RC Willey Home Furnishings.
7. 3 Things people don't know about me.
I don't like crunchy peanut butter but I love the creamy.
I'm a liberalist (according to Bryant, ask him why sometime).
I thoroughly enjoy making faces in an old fashioned photo booth and seeing the resulting pictres.
I tag Nikki, Brooke, and Athina.

In the airport today I saw vending machine for proactive solution so apparently you can sale practically anything in vending machines these days. What would you like to see sold in a vending machine?

The move
The process of moving from Utah to Texas has been long. I started packing about a week or so before the move (luckily much of our stuff was still boxed from our wedding and in storage). Then my mom, Kyle, Jeff and Micquel helped to load it into the UHaul (in which we weren't quite sure if everything would fit).
We then drove for about 24 hours (give or take) before we arrived in Grapevine. My mom, dad, and Kyle helped to drive me there and get all the stuff moved in. We also had a couple guys from our elders quorum who came and helped us. The fam was then kind enough to put my furniture together and organize it. I'm amazed at how much we got done before they had to leave. We even had a little time to drive around and see my new home here in Texas.

Woot! As many of you know I recently graduated from BYU with a BS in Mathematics Education. I never thought this day would come but it arrived. Thanks everyone that was able to come to the ceremonies and the after parties. Here are some pictures taken at commencement and convocation for your enjoyment (...or something).

In case you were wondering....
I saw this on a blog and thought it might be kind of fun so here's everything you never wanted to know about Bryant and I.
1. Where did you meet?
Techinically we met at work (he was a salesperson and I worked in the office) but we didn't ever actually talk until a mutual friend invited him to hang out with the rest of us (thanks Cassidy!).
2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
Just from seeing him at work I thought he was a very cute jerk, he wouldn't even smile at me but when we actually started hanging out I thought he was very funny.
3. Do you remember what he was wearing?
When we hung out for the first time he wore blue jeans and a long sleeve shirt.
4. Where was the first time you kissed this person?
We were up Provo Canyon in his convertible Eclipse looking at the stars and talking about life in general.
5. How did he/she ask you out?
He texted me which is pretty shy and adorable.
6. Where did you go for your first date?
We went to the Clark Planitarium and then went to his parents house where is dad made us dinner.
7.How long did you know this person before you became a couple?
Not sure exactly, it was probably a couple of months before he started hanging out and then it quickly morphed into being a couple.
8. Has this person ever proposed to you?
He proposed to me on 9 December 2005 (wow,it doesn't seem like it's been that long). He surprised me and rented a plane from UVSC and flew us up to SLC where we had dinner. When they brought out dessert they had a big beautiful rose (I still have it dried) on a separate plate and the ring was sitting in the center of it. Bryant got down on his knees and asked me to marry him. Then he flew me home. It was incredible to see him flying and to see the land below.
9. Do you and this person have kids together?
Not yet and hopefully not for a while.
10. Have you ever broken the law with this person?
No.
11. When was the first time you realized that you liked this person?
After the first time we actually hung out. I thought he was very funny.
12. Do you get along with any of the ex's of your partner?
No, he says he didn't have any girlfriends before me but I'm pretty sure he did they just weren't ever that serious.
13. What’s the most expensive thing this person has given you?
My wedding ring.
14. What is one thing he/she does that gets on your nerves?
I probably do more things that get on his nerves.
15. What is the thing you do that gets on his/her nerves?
Ah ha! I have long hair that clogs the drain in the shower.
16. Where do you see each other in 15 years from now?
We'll probably have kids and he'l'l be flying for some airline. I might be teaching. I'm not really sure. We could be anywhere.
Well, there you have it. We have a lot to look forward to in the future and I'm excited to finally be able to continue our relationship when I move to Texas.

Student Teaching
This semester has been so busy so I'm sorry for not posting for over two months (if any of you are even reading this). I started student teaching in January and I am really enjoying it (for the most part). There is another student teacher with me that I am able to plan with so that helps with the work load and she's been great to work with. The cooperating teacher has been really great too. She always has positive comments for us and seems to understand that we are still learning so she gives us one thing to work on in our next lesson (instead of expecting us to be perfect or having us try and fix all of our flaws at once). I was really nervous about student teaching but the people I am working with have really made it a enjoyable learning experience. I'm busier than I have ever been before. I leave for school at 7 am and get home at about 3:40. I have about 10 minutes to grab a quick bite and then I leave for work to get there at about 4. I don't get off work until almost 10 pm at which time I come home, work on lesson plans and prepare for teaching the next day for maybe an hour. If I'm lucky I get to talk to Bryant for a little bit and then I crash to start all over the next day. I try to get most of my planning done while I'm at school and on Wednesday when I don't work. On Wednesday I'm at the school usually until about 5. The semester seems to be going so slow but I think it's more because I have so much happening once I'm done. I just take one day at a time and try to enjoy the journey but sometimes I get so anxious and just want to be done! It's been stressful but good and most of the students I'm working with are really great students. They really make the days fun and help me to make it through. I'll try and keep you posted on the teaching experience but if I don't post for a while it's probably because I'm just a little busy.
